Men who feel strong in the justice of their cause, or confident in their powers, do not waste breath in childish boasts of their own superiority and querulous depreciation of their antagonists.

I haven’t had many opportunities to blog lately because I have extremely busy on some rather demanding/challenging back-to-back projects lately, but a couple things happened recently that I want to announce…

FIRST: This last Friday (June 19, 2009), I was called into my General Managers office at Magenic and informed that I had been promoted to Principal Consultant. This is something I have been working towards for some time, and I am very excited about the new responsibilities and challenges that will come with this role.

SECOND: Those of you that know me well are aware that I’ve been struggling with my health for some time. My weight tends to fluctuate (more than “just a couple pounds” in either direction) and lately I’ve been feeling like complete hell, partly because of my diabetes and partly because of my weight.

I’m not one to do much of anything in moderation… When I quit sodas, I had to go from a 12-pack a day to none (and stay there for a couple months) before I could “just” have 1 or 2 a day. This is also how I quit drinking (alcohol) a while back. Going cold turkey has never really been an issue for me. I’m gradually rebooting myself and focusing on eliminating a lot of unhealthy habits.

So, anyway, I’ve decided to do the same thing with meat. I don’t know for how long, or if I’ll even switch back once I’m used to being away from it, but I’m going to give it a shot.

Good luck Chris!

Recently I started just eating a little healthier practically overnight and have been just generally feeling better. Certain weekends I'll eat less healthy and feel like crap the next day so I partially know where you're coming from. It's well worth the effort.

Congratulations on the new position Chris! That's awesome and you totally deserve it! And good luck with the new health change. I'm sure you won't have too much trouble adjusting. You seem to be able to adapt to anything you put your mind to.

Congrats Chris!

Way to go on the healthy stuff too. If you ever want to go to the gym I have a few guest passes I can give ya and we can hit the raquet ball, rock wall or whatever at LifeTime Fitness in Plymouth!

Hey - Congrats Chris - cool news to hear - hope you like your new position. As far as your comments on gaining weight and changing eating habits - I'm there too - best of luck with all of your changes - look forward to hearing what development stuff you have been up to.

Good luck on the meatless diet. The wife did that a little over a year ago and it's been a significant change (in many ways) in many aspects of her life.

Me - no way. I'm racing to the grave with a 12 oz steak and a 32 oz Coke in each hand.

Chris,

Congrats on the promotion. I'm sure it is richly deserved.

Re: going meatless, what's your motivation? If you are trying to control weight or cholesterol, you are better off dropping eggs, cheese and milk. I lost some weight when I stopped eating meat, but I lost a lot more when I gave up all that cheese, which is basically pure fat.

Congratulations on the promotion.

I'm sorry you have to cut meat out of your diet, though. That's a terrible thing to have to do.

Is it ok to substitute ice cream in place of the meat? :-)
Seriously, good for you my friend. I look forward to hearing your progress. I know you can do anything you put your mind to.
