Warning: I’m going to go off on a big long tangent. You’re welcome to sit down and have some cookies. You did bring some, right? Because I ate all the ones in the kitchen. Here are some headphones if you want to ignore me. Oh, you brought your own? It’s like that now, huh?
Anyway, I’m going to talk about RSS feeds for a bit. Forgive me.
Since starting this blog, I’ve had my RSS feed on FeedBurner because that was easy. I mean, idiot easy. Remember, it’s me we’re talking about here.
I didn’t think anything of it until some web developer and designer people I know (I’m sure they would deny knowing me if you asked) kept telling me to move my feed away from FeedBurner because the API was going to be deprecated on October 20, 2012. That means it’s getting fucked and Google doesn’t care about it anymore because they’re onto bigger and better things as they try to take over the goddamn world.
I shrugged my shoulders and rolled my eyes and said, big whoop. Whatevs. If FeedBurner wasn’t being shutdown, what was the big deal? And I was too busy eating bits of romano cheese to do anything.
Now it’s 2020 and I’m realizing that I should’ve done something a long time ago. That seems to be the moral of the story of my life. Seriously.
